Sammie Cyrus '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sammie Gutz Cyrus, I am a double amputee wrestler in Dubois, Wyoming. In 2018 I started wrestling, I was in the sixth grade then and developed a passion for wrestling very quickly. In the beginning of my wrestling career here at Dubois I didn't do too well my first year but I soon progressed, with the help of many different mentors I finally felt comfortable on the mat. The next year I placed second at the WRCAA Wrestling Tournament in 7th grade, I then started going to more and more tournaments almost year round and when freshman year rolled around I placed 4th at the State Championships. I kept practicing and the next year as a sophomore I placed 3rd at regionals and due to eligibility issues I could not compete at state, fast forward to earlier this year on February 24th 2024 I was the Runner-up at the WHSAA 2A State Championships in the 106lb division. I am a competitor on the mat and dedicated to the sport of wrestling and have hopes of taking it to the next level both academically and athletically.
