Personal Statement

My goal as a pitcher is to get an out as efficiently as possible.  Although I have the ability to throw at high velocities, I also have true command of the location of my pitch which creates a wicked combination for any batter to face. Many say that is what makes me such a successful pitcher and not just a thrower.  Although velocity matters and gets pitchers noticed, it does not win ballgames. I strive to vary the speed and placement of my pitches confusing the batter and earning an out as quickly as possible.  I have had many umpires and batters comment that my pitches have incredible, unexpected movement. My wipeout slider is truly one of my most unique pitches resulting in many humbled batters.

During the game, I always remain calm and confident regardless of the situation, allowing my team to feed off my positive attitude and perform at its best. It’s that mentality that has allowed me to be the pitcher coaches and teammates want pitching in the big game or the reliever that comes in with bases loaded, 2 outs and a tie game.  My coaches and teammates know that I will get the job done. People often comment on the smile on my face when I am pitching.  It is truly because I am doing what I enjoy the most and am truly relaxed.

I am not an arrogant player.  I don’t trash talk the other team or the umpires. Instead, I focus on how best to support the success of my team, not build my own stats. I strive to set a positive image for our team and school.  I maintain focus and confidence in every situation, whether on the field or off.  I will play any position that is needed to ensure we are at our best. I am focused during the game studying batter tendencies, strike zone calls, and opponent strategy.  Sharing my observations helps our team be more efficient, strategic and successful.

But I am more than just a baseball player. I am a very driven individual that is committed to being the best version of myself every day. I stand up for those that cannot stand for themselves.  I am a strong Christian that bases my behavior and choices on what is honest and good.  I enjoy my family and friends and try to always balance my work with my personal life.  I live every day to the fullest, regardless of the circumstances and try to make the day better for those I interact with.  I put others above myself.  I expect the best out of myself and those around me.

I know I can be a great asset to any baseball team as well as any school and the community that surrounds us. I will always give you my best and will work to support the goals of the team overall before my own personal goals.  I will be a positive influence on others and leave a legacy of commitment, hard work, and good deeds.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
