Looking forward to my senior year. My junior year was certainly not like most school years. Michigan had limited outdoor sports and lifted bans enough to get a full season but it was certainly a year to remember. I spent most of the summer training with my high school team and some limited training with my club team. I feel confident in my role on the field and have not wavered in my love of the game. High School is a different kind of soccer but for me, the challenge comes from playing against much larger competition. In 2018, as the only freshman on the Varsity team, we ended our season as regional champs. This year my focus is on a strong year despite the added challenges of COVID-19 last year.
This past year, my club team was a State of Michigan State Cup Finalist. We landed the 2nd place slot and fought hard but fell short. It was a great season with a lot of challenges both mentally and physically. Looking forward to even more challenges this year.
In 2018, I made the State of Michigan ODP pool for 2018/2019. I enjoyed the additional training and competition but decided ODP wasn't for me so I planned to focus solely on my club team. My long-term goals include college-level competition.
I look forward to what the future brings as life gets back to a little bit of normalcy. I see myself in a more hands-on field such as aviation mechanics or electrical or mechanical operating systems. Soccer has taught me so much both on and off the field, it is a sport that requires you to rely on others while always doing your best. This perspective teaches you to be a team player while understanding that you must actively contribute to the team's goals. I heard a saying once that applies to so many aspects of my life: "Call everything you can get, and get everything you call" I don't know what the future holds for me but I plan to call everything I can get.
