Personal Statement

Want to be the best student athlete that I can be. I have been a proven leader on the teams I have been on my entire life and I want to be a leader on a team in college. My work ethic is well above average. I spend the extra time in the cages hitting, going to a hitting instructor and I am extremely coachable.

I want to graduate in the top 10% of my class. I have been a straight A student and have made honor roll year after year. Currently I have a 4.0 GPA through my sophomore year of high school and I want to continue that streak through college.

I would love to play baseball after college and will strive to make that goal a reality. If that doesn't work, I would like to work in something sports related and would be the best that I could be. My Dad has been successful in his field and I would want to follow in his footsteps of success. I want to make my parents proud!

Sam Houston State University DBAT Robertson ran away with it in their 10-2 victory over Pro Source Athletics in Game 1 at SHSU. Jack Schuler went 1-2 with a solo shot over the left field wall in the top of the 6th. Noah Sifrit went 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Brayden Merritt went 3-5 with one triple, one double, three runs batted in, and one run scored. He also gunned down a runner from right field (see below). Merritt was named player of the game. On the mound, Luke Scaggs threw 2.2 no-hit innings and picked up the 'W' in relief. Sticking out for Pro Source was Jacob Nesbit who went 2-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Grading Scale - 2 high school, 3 D3/NAIA/D2, 4 D1, 5 Professional. Brayden received a 3 in hitting, 4 in defense and arm strength. (85 mph from outfield). He had a 7.18 time in the 60 yard dash, but has been clocked at 6.7. Additional Comments: Brayden Merritt - OF Brayden is a 2017 graduate who fits right in with the best players in Arizona. Brayden’s 60yd dash is 2 tenths of second off the pro average and he is only going into his junior year of high school. His arm strength showed to be one of the better arms at camp, consistently being clocked at 85mph. Brayden has an easy swing with minimal body movement. Contact hitter/possible lead off guy at the next level. Things to work on: Always continue to improve upon hitting… Also, speed is one of Brayden’s strength, but if he could have a couple of seconds off his 60yd dash time, colleges would be lining up at the door.
