Zac Goldenberg - 6'2" tall - 200 lbs - Catcher ( utility player & former pitcher) Exercise Science / Kinesiology Major GPA: 3.03 SAT: 1130
My coaches have always called me "Goldie". Baseball has been an important part of my life since I can remember, something that let me always be a part of something bigger than myself. I've participated in many sports (Swimming, Basketball, Football, Golf, Snowboarding) but baseball has always been my first choice. I cannot remember a time I was not part of a team. The baseball diamond is a place where I can turn off the outside world, prove myself, grow consistently, and focus on the experience and joy of playing the game. In baseball, I have made strong friendships, learned how to accept and use feedback as a coachable player, and I pride myself on being a strong and committed teammate and leader when needed. As a person who learns and thinks differently, I know how to work to overcome a challenge. I have always been determined since I hit my first baseball. I've learned through every step that the level of results achieved in anything comes as a direct result of the commitment, effort, and integrity put into my daily practice.
My coaches often tell me that what makes me a strong player is my baseball intelligence, and willingness to consistently put in the work to grow. I pride myself on being aware of everything that is happening in the game, knowing what to look for in the next play, being able to keep the fun in my game, and being prepared while also being coachable. I also know the rules well and play that way, because that is what a good catcher does. I lead by example. I am often the first person to show up to practice, and the last person to leave. I am always looking for a chance to grow more, which includes helping younger kids learn the game and helping the players who are coming up behind me. I also show my own mentors I appreciate them for the time they have invested in me and for seeing my abilities.
My plan is to work within the industry once the day comes that I no longer play myself. I plan to study Exercise Science / Kinesiology with the goal to work in the field of athletics (Baseball). I hope to find a small to medium sized school in Oregon or California.
