Steven McDonald '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Steven McDonald and I am a Senior this year.  In High School I have played OF, 3rd, 2nd and pitched at Christian High School in San Diego County.  As an athlete I have played every position on the baseball field at a high level, including catcher.  My JV coaches used me as their #1 pitcher and starting 3rd baseman.   I am usually one of the fastest players on the teams running the 60 in the high 6's and the 40 in the low 4's. I have pitched and played in high pressure situations since I was a kid.  I was the starting pitcher for our local league in the California State Championship 11 U division and in 2022 I was the starting pitcher in the California State Championship State Seniors Tournament pitching a shutout in a 5-0 win over Murrieta.   Currently, after just turning 17 years old, I am throwing the ball consistently in the 80's with a heavy fastball and a curve in the mid to low 70's. Although I am one of the youngest Seniors in the county and in my overall class that hasn't phased me one bit as I know that I can compete at high levels and that I will continue to grow in every way.  I consider myself to be very coachable and easy to work with while staying strong and true to myself and my body.  I was a member of a Flag Football team that won the Southern California Flag Football Superbowl and in the past have played high level Club Soccer.  Golfing, surfing, and snowboarding/skiing are some of my hobbies.  I consider myself a good candidate for any school because of my athleticism and the fact that my high school acts as a college preparatory school which has given me the tools to succeed at the next level in all phases of life.   My anticipated major would be something to do with analytics and possibly sports administration.  My participation in the Shadow Mountain High School MInistry Youth Group has also been very fruitful, fun and enlightening.
