My name is Hudson Barnes and I will be attending Granite Bay High School in Northern California and graduating in 2024.
I do well academically and scored a 1300 SAT in 7th grade. My primary interest is in molecular biology and I want to eventually pursue a career in that field. My mentor, Eric Espinoza, Ph.D. (Stanford), has expanded my interest in this field and as a result, I am currently doing research under his guidance on human cell proliferation. I’ve completed the lab work on my initial study, and I am working on the data analysis. I hope to complete my first paper sometime in 2021.
Baseball is my primary sport, but I’ve played a lot of soccer and other sports growing up, and I plan on wrestling as a secondary sport in high school. I’ve played on a club team in the bay area called Kali-Trosky Baseball for the past several years. I play shortstop, third base, and pitch. Coaches have always said that I have great composure on the mound, and I seem to do very well in high-pressure situations. My reputation with my coaches has always been that I’m the hardest working kid on the field. I want to play in college and I am working very hard every day to make that happen.
I’m open to playing at academically challenging schools that have good biochemistry programs. I’m aware of many division I and division III baseball programs at great schools that meet this criterion. I am completely indifferent to the location and size of the school. And, of course, I would like to play at the most competitive level and program that I am capable of playing at. I have learned a lot about life playing baseball, and I want to continue that journey into college.
