Personal Statement

I play RHP / OF at Los Gatos High School, CA, Class of 2021. I have played all the infield positions on my travel teams. I am working each day to increase my strength and power. I want to pitch in college.

I plan to challenge myself academically, while improving my baseball skills, knowledge and performance each day.

I love to be the first player on the baseball field and the last player to leave. I have a passion for the game and I love to hustle on and off the field. I put the same high energy and focus into practices as I do in games. I am also interested in not only improving my own skill set, but also improving my teammates and others around me. I also try to promote an environment where my teammates and I respect one another and are focused on whatever it takes to win a championship.

Ideally, I would like to attend an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and the baseball diamond; a school where I am expected to be a great teammate, make a positive contribution to the team and be academically challenged. I would like to pursue a University with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of engineering. I am interested in California schools, PAC-10 schools, Ivy League schools, Johns Hopkins University and Duke University.

  • Bay Area World Series 2020 (BAWS) Blaine Clemmons @ Prep Baseball Report: Rankable talent and won't be uncommitted for long. Strong body, eye-catching physicality, high overhand slot, strong arm, stuff plays aggressively through the zone. One of the eye-openers at the event, prototype body, raw stuff by traditional metrics (mph) was good, spin rates supported raw stuff exceptionally well. FB up to 88 w/spin (max 2278), hammer biting CB (73-74, avg 2597 spin), dive bomb CHG (avg 976 spin) with swing/miss action. One of the region’s top remaining uncommitted ’21 RHP and frankly, he’s a rankable 2021.

  • RHP / OF: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 7 K, 1 BB in NorCal 1-0 win vs SoCal; BASEBALL FACTORY EVALUATION: Jimmy is a tall, athletic RHP/OF prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. On the mound, Jimmy gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing through his release. Jimmy shows a three pitch mix with his fastball at 82 mph during this game. Breaking ball sits from 67-68 mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 74 mph as he throws with loose arm action. In the field, Jimmy takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with sure hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a soft stride. He is fluid getting his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed and good extension through the ball, leading to consistent contact and line drives to all fields. Overall, Jimmy is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his junior season.

  • Hitting: 1 triple; 1 double. RHP: Struck out 6 of 10 batters; 0 runs; 0 hits allowed. Fastball: This pitch has clear rise/carry, likely caused by high spin efficiency (more spin induced movement means more rise), as well as a relatively high slot (1:00 tilt). High efficiency and a high slot means that there is great swing and miss potential with increased spin. As of now, there is already near elite induced vertical break (rise), which means you should locate up in the zone in order to induce swings and misses. With increased velocity and spin rate as you grow older and stronger, you definitely have the potential of owning an overpowering fastball. Change Up: The high horizontal break means more run, which likely makes the pitch more effective vs LHH. Curveball: Due to the rising qualities of your fastball, a 12-6 curveball would best complement your existing arsenal, so focusing on releasing in front of the ball and creating drop should be the priority when forming the shape of the pitch.

  • Jimmy is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that continue to improve each event. In the OF, Jimmy in on time with his prep step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and has an efficient first step to the ball. He works behind the ball, creates momentum in his lower half, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Jimmy starts in an athletic stance, gets his front foot down on time, and stays back on the ball. He hits off a firm front side with a gap to gap approach. On the bump, Jimmy features three pitches. He has tail on his 4 seam FB (83 mph), an 11-5 break on his curveball, and creates run on his changeup. He finds a balance point over the back leg, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. Jimmy is a solid player and we hope to see him continue his progress. • Jimmy continues to show a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line to his target. At the plate he continues shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm action is loose, free, and quick. Fastball shows a range of 78-81 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Note: This evaluation is available on baseballfactory.com

  • Baseball Factory evaluation June 10, 2018 College Prep: Jimmy is a long, lean built RHP / OF prospect who has a talented skill set. On the mound, Jimmy has a balanced delivery and keeps his eyes on his target. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with stiff arm action. Jimmy lands closed to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating with his core as he finishes towards his target. Jimmy commands his fastball with tail movement at 76-80 MPH. He also locates a deceptive change up and medium breaking curve ball. Offensively, Jimmy has a square setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and short stride. Jimmy shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path. He gets good extension and engages his lower half producing hard contact. He has the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. In the field, Jimmy plays with active footwork and effective angles covering good ground, he fields the ball in a square position with firm hands. Jimmy has a clean exchange leading into loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing online throws. Overall, Jimmy is a versatile prospect who has talent on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond. Note: This evaluation is available on baseballfactory.com
