Paul- Anthony Gutierrez Contreras '23 Recruiting Profile

Paul A Contreras, a 2023 graduate. I have been playing sports from the time I could walk. At the age of 2 my dad had me on the golf course driving golf balls. I love all sports especially baseball and my desire is to continue my education at a college that will allow me the opportunity to not only advance in my academics but allow me to continue playing the sports that I truly love. 

I currently play basketball and baseball for my high school (Joseph A Gregori High School) For basketball I play in the varsity team and play "forward" and "wing". This is due to my strength, long arms, big hands and my ability to jump up high. I am currently 6 ft 2, but I can guard a 6 ft 8.

In baseball, not only do I play for my high school, but I also play travel ball with  EJ Sports and have done many showcases with Baseball Factory and PBR. I am considered a utility player, with main focus in Center Field. I can play all outfield and infield positions and can pitch. I do not throw the fastest fastball, but I do throw a 67-70 mile an hour nasty knuckle ball - when I throw it no one knows what is coming at them. My arm motion never changes whether I am throwing a fastball, curve or knuckle ball. 

I am the type of player that believes that it is not about me, but about my team. Together we can accomplish anything if we keep an open communication, remember to always keep a positive attitude and never loose our focus. 

As a student and a player, I will always give 150% and if I do not know how to do it, I will practice until I master it. I am not the type to give up and will not quit until I get it right.
