Tanner Roberts '14 Recruiting Profile

I am a right handed, sidearm pitcher, 6’ 1” and 180 pounds. I just completed my freshman season at Los Angeles Harbor College where we competed in the South Coast Conference.

This is my first full season throwing sidearm. I began during my senior year in high school, but had limited game experience because I was still getting the feel for my delivery and release point. I have 4 pitches, a 2-seam fastball, a 4-seam fastball, a change up, and a slider. I can create different action with each pitch. I generate a lot of ground ball outs and a lot of strikes from foul tips and topped foul balls.

At L.A. Harbor College, I pitched a total of 28.2 innings, all in relief. I allowed 17 runs for an ERA of 5.34 with 14 strike outs. I know I have room to improve and I am excited about continuing my development and fine tuning my pitches.

Here are some highlights from the 2015 season.

• *21 scoreless innings.
• *3 innings each with 1 run allowed.
• *In 6 of 9 appearances, I came in with runners on base and was able to get out of the inning without any runs scored.
• *Came in with bases loaded and 1 out, twice. In one situation, I allowed 1 run before getting out of the inning. In the other, I was able to get out of it with no runs allowed.
• *4 runners picked off, all at first base.

Vs. Golden West College  

• (2/13/15) 4.1 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 K – 17 hitters faced with 13 first pitch strikes. Picked off a runner at first base.
• (2/17/15) 1 inning, 0 runs, 0 hits

Vs. Long Beach City College

• (3/12/15) 1.1 innings, 0 Runs, 0 hits, 2 K’s
• (3/14/15) 2.0 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 K – In one inning, I got 3 outs on 4 pitches

Vs. El Camino College

• (4/11/15) 1.2 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 K – Came in with bases loaded and 1 out and allowed no runs. Faced 6 hitters and threw 17 pitches, 16 for strikes.

I played my high school baseball at Vista Murrieta in Murrieta, California. We competed in the Southwestern League which was named by Max Preps as the top ranked league in the nation in 2014. We advanced to the CIF semi-finals in 2013 and quarter-finals in 2014. I was a 3 year letter winner at Vista Murrieta.

I have an older sister that graduated from Northern Arizona University with degrees in Elementary and Special Education, and an older brother who is a Business major at Cal State San Marcos. After graduation, I plan to become a firefighter.
