Personal Statement

I am a student-athlete who understands it takes hard work and the right attitude to succeed in my education and sport. Because I understand this I have chosen to go to Western Sierra Collegiate Academy because of its singular college focus, despite its baseball team being Division 5. WSCA is No. 25 in California for college preparedness per US News and World Report rankings in 2018. I am currently playing with NBO Baseball in Sacramento, for its summer high school and college teams. I chose this versus showcase only for playing time and development, and my hitting has improved dramatically. I will be playing in the Fall with NBO as well in some invite tournaments.  Follow me on Twitter at @jonobarton02

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Madison Bats showcase
  • 9/28/19 to 9/28/19
  • Went 2-2 with a tank of a homerun on first at bat–hardest hit ball I have ever had. Second was a liner for would-be double (I was last batter in showcase format.) Solid defensively on 1B. Talked with a number of coaches after.
  • Camp/Event
  • Westmont College Prospect Camp
  • 8/01/19 to 8/03/19
  • Strong showing, especially hitting. Spoke with coaches after the camp about coming for a visit to practice with the team and talk next steps.
  • Camp/Event
  • Westmont College Prospect Camp
  • 10/07/17 to 10/07/17
  • Shined on 1B, making numerous good plays. Good footwork and positioning. In BP, hit two out. Others were solidly hit line drives. In live play, hit the deepest ball of the day, plus quality at bats as a Sophomore against Varsity level pitching. Pitched decently for no recent bullpens following recovery from a growth-related rotator cuff injury: Two ground balls, two strikeouts, one deep fly.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
