Personal Statement

It has been my goal to play college baseball, while working towards my degree, for as long as I can remember.   I've played since I was 4 years old and take pride in being a versatile player at every level I have played at so far.  I think that is something that sets me apart  from other kids in my grad class, my versatility.  This past season I started multiple games at 1B, 3B and Pitcher while spending the majority of our games as our catcher.  This was actually the first time in 3+ years that I've caught and had a very successful season in doing so.  This summer, I'm assuming I will be used in a similar role, but am also looking to get some experience in the outfield as well.   Once summer is over, I will begin focusing on Football in the Fall where I'm hoping to be the starting Tight End.   My goals as I'm entering my Junior year in Fall 2022, is :

1. I look to improve my GPA above a 3.5 (currently 3.4)

 2.  Improve my AVG and OPS to above .400 and 1.000 (sophmore year .385 & .969)

3. Win a CCS championship for my HS

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Stanford Baseball Camp
  • 6/28/23 to 7/01/23
  • Infield Notes: Set up low, short arm stroke, good feet, stalls during fielding, / Set up a bit higher to increase range and mobility, work on precise movements with a lose and relaxed approach, work to keep momentum up during the fielding sequence and throw - hip an whip, short to long arm action, exchange front hip with back hip to generate momentum during the throwing phase. Pitching Notes:Notes: 3/4 release. Fastball spins true and he creates a good amount of vertical break. If it was firmer he would have a good chance to carry above the barrel. Showed good feel for a gyro, slider but he needs to throw it harder if it is going to yield well against higher caliber hitters. Good feel for mixing the two in the zone. Flashed changeup that he killed spin well on.
  • Camp/Event
  • Southwest Championships 16U: powered by Baseball Factory's Team One
  • 7/20/22 to 7/26/22
  • Playing for Baseball Factory Team One: Michael is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. Large frame athletic build with strength present with a lot of room to fill out. At 3B, he passes the eye test and has a good arm. Showed good range and soft hands as he fields from a low fielding position. Short arm action into a high 3/4 release point with consistent throws. On-line throws, with a quick release, to first base with a recorded arm velocity up to 81 mph. On the mound, he showed a clean arm with simple mechanics. Late drive to plate who pitches to contact. Michael works off of a FB that sat 74-76 mph with slight movement. Mixed in a developing 11/5 breaking ball that he uses to keep hitters off-balance. Right-handed hitter starts with a square and athletic stance. Quiet head enables him to track pitches well and battles with 2 strikes. Has a good idea of what pitch he is looking for. Showed some quickness to hands, with good hip rotation, and ability to hit line drives. Had a bat exit velocity of 90 mph in live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.
  • Camp/Event
  • Southwest Championships 16U
  • 7/21/21 to 7/26/21
  • Played for Baseball Factory Team One. Per BF: " 07/21/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 16U Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. At the event, he was 3 for 9. Defensively, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows big play potential. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program."
  • Camp/Event
  • Freshman Fall Classic
  • 10/10/20 to 10/14/20
  • Played for Baseball Factory Team One. Per BF: "10/14/2020 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Michael is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who showed well during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Michael fields the ball out in front of his body and has a smooth exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a centered stride. He is on time getting his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a smooth stroke with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and strong line drives. On the mound, Michael gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm, staying inline toward the plate. He operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits at 59mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Michael is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build up on his skills on the field"
