Since I was a boy, I never found a sport I truly enjoyed. During the pandemic, a friend invited me to a volleyball open gym and I decided to join a club team. I played for my high school team as a freshman and continued to play club. During those 3 years, I became hooked on playing volleyball! Having the opportunity to practice with collegiate athletes during an open gym, I became inspired by their skill; their enjoyment of the game and their mental strength to laugh off mistakes. This inspired me to become more serious and dedicated to volleyball. I felt I had finally found my passion and knew I wanted to play college volleyball.
I am committed to my academics and have pushed myself by taking the opportunity to attend my schools districts Middle College program. I now attend high school at the junior college which means I take some high school classes and many college courses. Taking classes with adults has exposed me to new and unique ways of studying and learning through their experiences. My parents are both college graduates and I have always planned to attend college. While exploring career options and discovering more of what interests me, I decided I not only want a bachelor's degree but a masters degree in mathematics as well.
Outside of school, I devote much of my time to volleyball. I coach new volleyball players as well as volunteering during special events at the club. I attend a variety of open gyms at different clubs to increase my practice time, for my own enjoyment and for stress relief.
I try and always play with a positive energy; I find that when I put out a positive energy and it is reciprocated, my level of play increases. I am honest, hard working and dedicated. I create connections with my teammates, not only while on the court, but off the court as well. I believe that having a sense of community with the team allows us to match each others tempo and work well as a team even under stress to overcome of the obstacles of other teams.
