I absolutely love the game of baseball, and more importantly what it stands for in my life. What I learn on the field, in terms of leadership, commitment, work ethic, and team work is even more important applied off the field. This year I earned two awards that I believe displayed who I am. I was honored to receive one of only two coveted "Character Award" in the entire baseball program, which the coaches choose the player that represents integrity and leadership on and off the field. I was also fortunate to receive the JSerra High School "Faculty Award" this year. The entire school faculty votes for one male (and female) from each class recognized for their academic achievements (4.2 GPA), leadership, character, and represents what it means to be a Lion at JSerra. I know how hard this is to achieve and truly appreciate that my coaches and teachers chose me.
I participate in a highly competitive baseball program here at JSerra, and am proud that I have earned playing time as the primary catcher, but also seeing time at 3B, 2B, SS, and Outfield. But as much as I love the game of baseball, and being recognized as a leader on and off the field, what I'm most proud of is my family...and especially my 15 year old brother and best friend, Reese. I watched my brother battle a rare bone cancer called osteosarcoma for the last three years. Just a few months ago, my brother moved to heaven and what I learned from Reese and his battle has forever changed me. I have a perspective on life that I believe to be very unique at my age - I know what is truly important and appreciate every day. Because of Reese I am incredibly motivated to be the best version of myself everyday. I am grateful for any opportunities that may be in front of me and will never take anything for granted - whether it be my own health or my future in baseball and academics.
My goal in college is to compete at the highest level, represent my school with the utmost respect by being a leader on and off the field, and make my brother proud. I know no one who is tougher and more deserving of the nickname "Reese is a Beast" and will take the lessons I learned from his tenacity to never give up, his ability to always see the positive, and his perseverance to overcome the unimaginable with me everywhere I go.
