Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Hailey Johnson and I would like to introduce myself!  I am a 17 year-old 12th Grader and play varsity basketball for JSerra Catholic School.  We play in the competitive Trinity conference (Orange County, CA area) with teams such as Mater Dei and Rosary Academy.  Our non-conference schedule includes many of the largest/highest ranked teams in the state from the region.  I will be matched up against some of the best players in the state.   I also played for the Nike EYBL Team, Cal Sparks on their top team last spring/summer.  Our club team competed against the top level teams in the region and nationally.

I am a very good student and take my education seriously.  I am not decided on my major, but it will likely be something like Communication, Pre-Law or Pre-Med.   While I am a good student, I do have a lot of friends that are important to me.  I am also involved in the School Choir and Jack & Jill of America.  Lastly, I am a member of the California Junior Scholarship Federation.

I also enjoy giving back to the basketball community.  I volunteered to be a coach at a basketball camp last winter.  I reached out to a local club basketball President and asked how I could volunteer.  He pointed me towards the group camp coordinator and that person assigned me to a position at the camp.  I learned a lot about working with our club administration, parents, and the kids.  I plan to coach again thi summer!

I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me academically.   I am very passionate about basketball and if that works out also, that would be great!

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
