I have been playing baseball for as long as I can remember. I have played every position throughout those years, some by choice and some because it is what our team needed. When I was younger, I struggled controlling my emotions because I cared too much and would let things that were not in my control effect my performance and attitude. Baseball has helped me to understand the difference between things that I can and cannot control. This allows me to focus on the things that are under my control. This ability allows me to accept coaching and criticism, while not taking it personally. I am the type of person that is always cheering on and encouraging the people surrounding me. I am a very high energy and positive person. Baseball has been an excellent way for me to use my personality traits in a positive and fun manner. I have been an assistant coach for my brother's travel baseball team and I have also established a scholarship fund for Summit Youth Baseball. I donate some of the money I earn working to provide scholarships for local kids that might otherwise not have the opportunity to play baseball. Baseball has provided me with so many great memories and relationships that I feel it is very important to help provide that opportunity for others.
In college, I am hoping to study biology, chemistry, marine biology and or environmental science. These are the classes that have captured my attention in high school which has made it enjoyable to study and to put in the hard work necessary. I know it might sound weird from a kid growing up in the mountains, but I love the water. My family and I have been taking trips to the beach throughout my entire life. My family has been very supportive of me through the years of playing baseball which has given me confidence because I know they always have my back. For example, my grandfather who is deaf has helped me with practicing baseball. This has given us an opportunity to bond while helping me to learn sign-language.
I am a very well rounded teenager that gets good grades and is goofy and fun to be around. With my personality, work ethic and desire to please, I feel I would be an excellent addition to any team!
