My name is Santos Torrez, a strong Christian foundational leader of men. Class of 2021, 3.8GPA student with solid study disciplines and focused on an Engineering Career. My baseball focus is primaryily Catcher, technically sound 3rd Base, and Middle Infielder with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Lakewood, CO and attend Alameda International High School and Freshman Varsity Baseball Starter. I have a strong medium frame with a compact, lean build with good footwork. I feel that I am fundelmently sound at fielding and batting with a high baseball IQ and leader of the field from behind the plate. I concentrate primary at Catcher with a strong arm, smooth paced & deliberate footwork and quick to block with a 2.10 Pop-Time to 2nd. I posses clean glove actions while funneling the baseball and try to work through my transfers with smooth, loose exchanges. I show a slight side set stance while receiving and framing. I gain some ground with smooth paced foot work and release from a low three-quarters slot bringing the ball quickly to the ear position. I Try to create softer online carries while throwing across the infield currently topping at 79 miles per hour. I am a right handed hitter with a crouched, even stance and simple front side trigger. I try to stay back side at load and work to contact with rotational lower half actions. I attempt to have a consistently loose, extended path to contact with a line drive & slightly elevated plane through my extension. I primarly hit the ball deliberately to the alleys and can go opposite field gap and line with Power. I can also pitch and utilize a smooth side step delivery. I am balanced at set and work to the plate with tall and fall actions. My video shows a medium arm circle at take back and a release from a 3/4 position on both fastball, cutter, and change up making it difficult for batters to know what pitch is coming. Curve and slider break hard and can be thrown from multiple arm angles. Fastball had some running action with sink, tops at 75 miles per hour. Coaches have told me that my Slider has 9-4 shape with good spin and some tilt. I pride myself on consistantly filling the zone and like to challenge hitters through the entire game while painting more strikes than balls, seldomly walking batters. I know my skill level will continue to develop with physical strengthening, mental maturity, repetition, and fundamental practice and have personal work ethic to achieve my goals.
