My name is Ethan Covello. I am an honor student and athlete. My PG scouting report indicates that I am a potential draft pick and/or excellent college prospect. Baseball has taught me to overcome adversity and turn obstacles into opportunity. I became interested in baseball at the age of 10. I quickly fell in love with the sport, and I knew early on that baseball would be an important part of my life. I have improved as a baseball player by overcoming obstacles. The sport has taught me discipline, and gave me motivation to prove myself.
Four years later, entering my freshman year, I was looking forward to trying out for my high school baseball team. Travel teams and previous experiences gave me the confidence to compete for a varsity spot. Unfortunately, there was a statewide cancellation of high school baseball my freshman season due to the COVID pandemic. Disappointed, I focused on learning a secondary defensive position. For the entirety of the quarantine, I worked on infield skills and catching. Honing in on my defensive capabilities helped earn me a varsity spot my sophomore year.
My family moved during my junior year in high school to Durham CT. As a varsity player, moving was difficult- it meant I would have to prove myself all over again and earn a spot on a new team; not just any team, a team that won a state championship the previous season! Overcoming the move, I became the starting varsity catcher and led the team in hits, home runs and RBIs.
Finally, I have a great family that loves and supports me. I am committed to baseball and practice at least 6 days a week. I take being a good teammate just as seriously as the physical aspect of the game, and I am always striving to help teammates and improve as a leader. I will do my part to help your team win baseball games.
