Amalia DeMartino '21 Recruiting Profile

My life has been shaped by the game of softball ever since my dad put a bat in my hand and taught me to switch hit at the age of three.  My love for the game has only grown since then.  I'm a player with a unique combo of high softball IQ, speed, power and utility all wrapped in a small package. On the field I’m a fierce, determined competitor who puts my everything into every play.  I’m the one you'll find covered in dirt (and smiling about it) at the end of every practice and game.  Yet at that same time, I’m a compassionate and supportive teammate who is always smiling and cheering my teammates on.   I’m a true utility player who can play all nine defensive positions (yes, I really can including catching and pitching near 60 mph!) and a power hitter from both sides of the plate.  Add to that, I’m speedy and quick-footed, can bunt and slap, and also a base stealing threat.  As a girl from a small rural town in CT who excels academically, I believe I will fit best at a small, close-knit,  school in the Northeast with small class sizes, an excellent academic reputation and strong school spirit.  Ideally, I’m looking for that perfect school where I can use my diverse skills to contribute to a competitive softball program, pursue a degree in psychology, and still have time to be an active participant in the school community.
