Hi Coaches,
I became interested in baseball at a very young age and developed a love for the game. There are so many reasons I love this game. Sometimes I feel like nothing can take me off the field when I'm in the moment. I get energy from the loud cheers of my teammates, the roars of the crowd and the feeling of the baseball seams in your hands or getting a hit to win the game. Memories like this, I cherish. I remember the Little League moments when nothing could make me lose focus. My favorite memory is hitting two home runs in back to back at-bats to put my team up by one run in the championship game, hearing those cheers of the crowd and the hands patting my helmet as I crossed home plate. Another memory is from freshman year on varsity, I was the only freshman on the high school varsity baseball team, pitching against the number one team in the conference, bases loaded and I came in for the starter. I’m nervous and shaking but I know I can get out of this jam. I went out there and the batter hit a fly ball which was caught for the out, I came back into the dugout and everyone gave me this warm welcome as if I was accepted onto their team. Those are the moments I remember, the reasons why I love the game.
I am very excited to start the recruiting process and start looking for a spot on a team. My college goals are to become the best baseball player I can possibly be and to work hard in the classroom to get a great education. I also want to become the man that I want to grow up to be. I will always work harder than expected. I will be there for every practice, game, and event that is expected of me. I will put in the extra work that is needed to get me to the next level higher in college, not only in baseball but in academics too. I will get along with my teammates and respect the coaches and staff that are a part of the team. I am a great team player that will give my best effort for the team to win. I will do anything to become better at my craft. I do not only think of baseball as a sport but as my life, and I will treat it like that.
Thank you, Luke Barrientos
