- AWARD - TOP 10 EXIT VELO. Gabriel Tamayo is a 2022 2B/C, 3B, IF, UT with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Miami Coral Park HS. Recorded a 7.35 second 60-yard dash. Medium frame with room to add strength to the build. Primary second baseman with a lower arm slot and moves well to both sides. Good body control with some smoothness and had throws recorded up to 78 mph. Right-handed hitter with a wide base and a leg lift into the load. Lower hand set with a flat barrel path and some hand speed. Top hand dominant swing with some extension out in front. Has looseness and generates some leverage out in front. Big strength at contact and has power when generated out in front. Impressed with a 92 mph exit velo. Also pitched and struck out a batter in his inning of work while only allowing 1 hit. Tremendous student.

- Gabriel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects best as a RHH where he displays well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

- Gabriel is an athletic 3B who will graduate in 2022. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power is best shown as RHH. Gabriel has potential with time and room to progress his game.

- FIELDING EVALUATION - Tall frame with room to fill it out and get stronger. Made accurate throws across the infield and arm strength will continue to get better as he develops. Consistently 75 across the diamond. Attacked the baseball with a solid first step and did a nice job gathering momentum after fielding the ball out front. Continue to work on breaking down a little sooner to stay under control and behind the baseball. Showed good hands during drill work. High character. HITTING EVALUATION: Shows good strength at the plate. Starts with an open stance and mid high leg kick to start his timing. Makes contact with the ball in front of the plate. Has some whip in the bat but has a little arm ball. Continue to work on staying inside the baseball. Does a good job stabilizing with his front leg and hitting against it. Showed a good eye at the plate. Will be a line drive hitter who will be able to use all fields. Wants to hit!

- Gabriel Tamayo is a 2022 3B/C, 2B with a 5-11 140 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Coral Reef Senior. Ran a 7.78 second 60 yard dash. A primary third baseman with length in the frame, approaches the ball with short choppy steps, showed a full arm action with developing arm strength. On the mound, starts with a high leg lift, works on top of the ball with a release by the ear, throws against a stiff front side and could get more extension out front. fastball sat 72-73 mph in the zone, did a nice job pitching to contact. At the plate, as a switch hitter starts with high hands from the right side, swing gets unbalanced at times, showed the ability to find the barrel taking the ball the other way. From the left side, starts with a low hands position, barrel works steep into the zone, will be more consistent with more balance in the swing. Excellent student.
