Some of the highlights from high school are not about championships and trophies, it is about the value of teamwork, commitments and sacrifices it takes to be the best. I was one of the selected freshman to play varsity at the end of the year for both pitching and playing first base. Coming into my sophomore season, our team was young, but we end up extending our season as runners up for Districts and advancing to regionals for the first time in 5 years, where our run was cut short to the team who ultimately won states. With 2 more seasons left in my high school career, I am going to do my best to get our team back and win.
I was born in Michigan and played baseball there, however since it was only available 3 to 4 months out of the year, I didn't realize how much less competitive it was. Moving to Florida I realized how much more competitive the game is and really fell in love with the game. I wanted to be better than i was in order to compete at higher levels and worked to not only sharpen my skills but learn the game.
My desire for the game goes beyond playing baseball. I help coach an advanced baseball team for 9 and 10 year old’s who have the same fire I had at that age to learn the game. By working with these kids it helps me appreciate how much time we have to play this game and how much I want to continue to play this game through my college career.
I am looking for a program which will be a fit for me both for baseball as well as academics. I have been able to maintain high grades while still putting in the time for both baseball as well as activities with friends and family. With the support of my family, friends and coaches I believe I have the character, leadership skills as well as the talent and desire for baseball to compete at the college level. I look forward to what the future brings.
