My name is Adonis J. Huff (AJ) and I am 5'9" and weigh 175 lbs. As a Sophomore in high school, I was introduced to the game of baseball by my grandad and dad at the age of 3 years old. The game of baseball has been a huge part of my growth, development and maturity which influenced me to want to play baseball on a collegiate level. It is very exciting that the time as finally come for me to begin pursuing this endeavor.
As a baseball player, I have always been a strong bat in the lineup as a right side hitter. On the field, I have always played middle in-fielder though short stop is where I am most comfortable. There have been instances throughout my baseball career that required me to play other positions outside of my comfort zone and I can truly say by embracing those opportunities, I am a better and aware player.
I am extremely motivated to play baseball in college. Throughout my years in various baseball programs, I learned early on what some of the key characteristics baseball programs are seeking and I have worked to position myself in these areas. I have made sure to challenge myself on the field, but most importantly in the classroom as well. Both of my parents are educators so they would not not have it any other way. Over the years, I have had different people say they felt I was capable of playing on a D1 level, which was always encouraging. However, I know that game of baseball requires time, commitment, passion and respect for the game regardless of the Division.
My goal as a college student is to continue to grow and develop under experienced coaches and professionals while playing baseball at a high and competitive level.
As far as school size, I am open to both larger and smaller institutions. I am disciplined enough to stay focused if I attended a larger University, while my laid back and modest personality would fit right into a smaller institution. In reality, my main focus regardless of the school is to play baseball while earning my degree.
I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement. Please let me know if there is any additional information needed. Have a great baseball season!
