Personal Statement

My love for the game of baseball continues to teach me valuable lessons that will help me to be successful in life. As I continue to work to improve my game and grow as a collegiate student athlete, I am learning to balance my focus and dedication on an off the field to become a high performing student and athlete.

As I enter the spring of my freshman year of college, I have transferred to Coastal Alabama South from Kennesaw State University, where I plan to continue growing and performing at a level high level with the hope of reaching my goal of playing at the professionally in a few years.

Ellington is a special athlete on the mound with gifts of power, mobility & quick-twitch reactions with everything he does. At the plate, he has a compact swing that produces consistent contact. Defensively, he is quick twitched with very quick hands and feet with a plus arm. He works from the stretch in a short, simple delivery that is controlled to the peak of his leg lift, but then is rapid fast as he gets down the mound through the pitch. Pitches come from the 11:00 arm slot. Fastball can run some at times with lots of spin and carry, has been up to 88 mph. Curveball is electric. The pitch break takes the shape of a traditional breaking ball, but the pitch speed, spin, and late action show resemblance of a sharp slider. When thrown in the zone it is rarely put in play and is accompanied by weak contact. At 6-0, 170 lbs. with long limbs, Ellington’s physical upside is extremely high. As he continues to grow his value will continue to rise. He’s an exciting, young two-way talent.
