Hello – My name is Zack Thompson and I love to play Baseball. I attend LaGrange High School in LaGrange, Georgia, and my primary position is Catcher. My graduation year is 2022, and I am the starting Catcher for my Varsity team. I am 5’10” and weigh 170 lbs. My pop-time is between 1.90 and 1.95, but always on the bag.
I started playing baseball at the age of 3 and have always had a huge love for the game. On the field, I am a leader and realize that during the game I must control my pitcher, along with being the captain for the rest of the team. Off the field, I am a very hard worker and I take the weight room very seriously. A couple summers ago I gained 40 lbs. by working out multiple times a day, eating 5,000 calories every day, and doing speed and agility training as well. The training and large muscle and weight gain have increased my bat speed and power, as well as made an impact on my pop-time with increased arm strength. I am self-motivated, I love to work hard, and I know that I can lead by example by being the first one to arrive at the baseball field and the last one to leave, not to mention the fact that I truly enjoy playing the game.
On top of baseball, I value my family, my academics, and my Christian faith. Throughout my baseball career, God has helped me become better at loving him and he has helped me to trust his process. My family is also a very important part of my life as well, my parents and little sister have supported me all along my baseball journey. My Dad also coached me in Baseball, Football and Basketball for 10 years and has always motivated me to be the best player I can be. Academics is another quality I value, I strive for excellence in everything I do and grades are no exception, my GPA is a 4.0.
Most of my favorite accomplishments throughout the years are related to sports. I have played a lot of baseball over the years with local teams and travel teams and won a lot of games. I remember our 11U team being ranked as the top team in the country for USSSA. Another one of my accomplishments is being the leader of my high school baseball team, and I push myself and my teammates to be the best. I currently play travel ball with SBG Sox Auburn Prime 2022, we play a lot of games at PG/PBR in Atlanta and we play many tournaments in Alabama, please look me up if you are ever at one of the PG/PBR tournaments or at one of our tournaments in Alabama, I would like to shake your hand and say hello.
I would like to attend a college in the Southeast area of the country because I would like to play somewhat close to home. It has always been a dream of mine to play for a competitive college and to make an impact on the team as soon as I arrive on campus. My options are open to colleges at this point, I just want to locate a good fit for me and for the team. In addition, my current desired major is Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine but my options are also open there too.
