I started playing baseball in smart start tee ball when I was 5 years old, hence why my parents and I have always preferred the number 5 on my baseball jerseys. Watching my older cousin pitch in high school continued to spark my desire and love of baseball as I got older. I have been playing baseball competitively since I was about 8 years old, starting then as our team’s primary catcher, which I remained for several years to follow. As I grew older, I became more interested in pitching, although I am also well versed and enjoy playing both third and first bases when I am not pitching. I am also an avid player on our high school football team as a defensive tackle, as well as playing as an offensive lineman (I seldom leave the field during a game). We have won our region and advanced to state the last 3 seasons and won the GISA AA State Championship in December 2021.
Playing on both our high school baseball and football teams has taught me a great deal about the value of teamwork, as neither sport can be won with an individual… you must work together to achieve a common goal. Individual achievements and recognition can be achieved in both sports, but no one person wins the game alone. I am looking to play baseball at the next level, but I am also looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically, as we all know there’s life after baseball (or whatever sport we play). I not only want to continue my baseball aspirations at this point, but I also want to prepare for what the future holds when baseball is no longer my “career”.
