In college, my goal is to advance my education while playing baseball and football. The degree I wish to pursue is Economics and Business Management. After graduating from college, I plan to start a business utilizing my learned skills. On and off the field as well as in the classroom, I am a hardworker. Often, I keep myself engaged and actively participate. My willingness to learn and try new things, helps to improve my skills in different situations. Furthermore, my due diligence in learning and advancing my education help in reaching my goal of becoming a successful business owner. I am open to suggestions, coachable and a quick learner who looks for the opportunity in improving athletically and personally. These attributes will allow me to be marketable.
At the age of four I started playing baseball. I started off playing tee-ball and advanced to coach pitch. At a young age, my father along with other coaches noticed I was surpassing my peers. Because of this, I was allowed the opportunity in playing with kids who were advanced and older than I was. The decision to move up an age bracket was a great decision. This advancement allowed me to be physically and mentally challenged in the game of baseball. I had the drive to be better as well as help my teammates to improve and be better too. I focused my attention on becoming a better baseball player without losing sight of teamwork. Without teamwork and cohesiveness, you can not win.
After multiple seasons of being a utility player I found that catcher and pitcher was my forte. However, due continuous growth spurts, often my knees were painful due to the continuous bending as a catcher. So, I tried out as a pitcher. This is when I realized that the best position was on the mound. As a pitcher, you control the game and have to be prepared mentally.
In high school my parents discouraged me from playing football. Both my parents believed football was too dangerous and that I would get injured. However, they allowed me to make the choice to play football. I started playing football during my sophomore year till current under Darren Johnson, Head Coach. Although others had more experience than I did, I was a quick learner. I played as a starting Defensive End on the Junior Varsity football team. In that same season, I moved up to Varsity and played Tight End and Defensive End. The coaches saw that I had a lot of potential. They allowed me the opportunity to prove myself on the field. My development in football skyrocketed and I was able to play multiple positions. The head coach along with the position coaches saw that I was a viable and reliable player. During all three seasons of football, I did not miss practice and worked hard on and off the field.
