I have very ambitions goals that I’m committed to achieving. The beginning of my junior year was a moment of awakening for me. I realized I needed to work even harder both in swimming and academically if I wanted to reach my goals of swimming for a competitive college program.
The 2018 and 2019 Big Island High School Conference Championships were a highlight in my swimming career. I won my events with my fastest times ever and I contributed to my teams scores to win the overall championships both years. My team worked extremely hard towards this goal and I loved seeing all of our hard work pay off in the end.
I was selected to attend the Hawaii Senior Select Camp in 2019, where I trained with the top 10 boys and girl swimmers in the state. That inspired me to push myself even further to set new milestones.
I was also one of 3 athletes from my school chosen to attend a Hawaii student athlete leadership seminar. This motivated me to strive to be more of a leader within my team. I’m the type of person that when I set my mind to something, and tell myself I’m going to do it, I get to work and I get it done. I'm not afraid of hard work! I’ve experienced a few situations in high school where my peers have made poor choices. I stayed true to my morals and beliefs regardless of the direction that my peers took. I’m proud of myself for being an honest person and staying strong by doing the right thing under peer pressure. My coaches have put tremendous emphasis on developing my character, attitude, and instilling a growth mindset so i shine both inside and outside of the pool. 5 words that best describe me are Loyal, Determined, Ethical, Responsible and Hard Working.
