Aloha! My name is Nathaniel Wagner and I am currently a rising Senior (class of 2023) at Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii. At 5’11” and 170 pounds, my primary position is catcher and my secondary position is outfield and first base. Occasionally, I also play third base depending on the needs of the team. I am versatile and work hard to learn new positions when my coach sees a need on the field.
My goals and aspirations are to play baseball at the collegiate level for a competitive baseball program. Aside from my game stats, one of my biggest strengths is that I am willing to put in the hours needed to improve my game. I am fortunate to have full access to a large private school campus and have been taking advantage of these privileges. In order to demonstrate my commitment to staying fit, I have been on a workout regimen for the last year. I regularly work out in the weight room, the batting cages, and the baseball field. I understand the importance of goal setting because my goals keep me motivated and focused.
Aside from my work in the gym and on the field, I am a good college candidate because I am a hard worker. I understand the importance of education and I am willing to do whatever it takes in the classroom and on the field to be able to continue to play baseball after high school. I understand that being a well-rounded student is important and I apply the same disciplined approach to my studies as I do to baseball. To that end, I spend many hours working on strength, hitting, and defense a week. I like to workout and I work hard! I make sure I train at least once a day and continually push myself to be better and become stronger and faster. At school I work hard to achieve good grades. I pay attention in class and give my best effort, even when the classwork is difficult. I try to take classes that can help me down the line and have developed good study habits.
I played my first baseball game when I was four years old. I loved being out at the field with my friends, and the joy of actually hitting that ball of the tee has resonated with me to this day. There have been times when I’ve been frustrated, but I didn’t give up. I love to push myself in practice so in the games I can be the best version of myself as a player. I am coachable and when I receive feedback that will help with my game, I take it to heart. I follow the rules and look to help the team in any way that I can, and I am a nice person who looks out for others and offers encouragement.
Some of my other interests include going to the beach to swim or boogie board with my friends. I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes and making good food for me and my family. Each summer I have been lucky enough to travel to the mainland and I’m eager to see more of the world as I get older.
I appreciate your consideration for your baseball program. I am a good candidate because I am a team player that can adapt quickly to play many positions on the field, I am a coachable player willing to go the extra mile for my team, and I am a hard worker always looking to improve In any way that I can.
