INTRO/BACKGROUND:
My name is Trevor Collins, but most people call me TJ. I am in the 2023 graduating class at Capital High School in Boise, Idaho. I was born in Washington State and moved to Idaho at 12 years old. Others would describe me as outgoing, a great teammate, steady, insightful and have a "can do" attitude. I am devoted to using God's talents with the highest level of precision. I play both varsity level for my high school team and also play in an 18U Travel Elite team. During the 2021 season at Capital High School, I started as a sophomore playing a utility role for the varsity team and was the only player to be utilized in that role. I had the opportunity to play each position except for 1st base. In each position, I executed a high level of competition and precision. I believe this showcased my athleticism and baseball IQ. However, my primary positions were outfield and 2nd base, which is what I play on my travel/club team.
I have been invited to PBR this summer (2022) in Las Vegas, the Arizona Fall Classic, both my Sophomore year and Junior year, performing at a high level of competition each time. In previous years I have participated in Baseball Northwest and USA Baseball.
LESSONS LEARNED:
Playing baseball has taught me how to persevere through mental and physical challenges, and by not giving up, I will have a great reward, and that sometimes that may take time and patience. I have learned the importance of being a great support to my teammates, encouraging them, and having a solid bond. I have learned to give 100% on and off the field in everything I do. I've also known that I will sometimes fail, which has taught me how to readjust my mindset to push through or, as I like to call it, a reset. I have taken what I've learned in baseball and applied it to other aspects of my life, especially when challenges arise.
GOALS:
My goal has always been to play baseball in college at the highest level of competition possible, regardless of the role or position I am placed in. Ideally, I would like to be given an opportunity to actively contribute to a collegiate team, continue to develop myself as a player, and push to improve. To help my team and teammates be successful through my strengths. I am a player that manages himself to the highest degree possible. I am a player with great speed, agility, solid baseball IQ, an incredible work ethic, initiative, and hustle, and I understand the sacrifice and hard work needed. I am 100% coachable and value the insight.
EVALUATIONS:
I commonly receive feedback during evaluations from coaches, prospect camps, and showcases.
“TJ loves the game of baseball, and his desire to be the best he can be is second to none. Two of his many great attributes are his speed and work ethic. Also, he is a great teammate and wants to play at the highest level possible. A coach's dream, team-first mentality. “ Coach Larry Price (Travel Team Coach)
"Your Baseball IQ is solid; you have the talent for this level of competition."
"You have quick hands, good bat speed. Your speed and agility are outstanding."
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
In my spare time, I am active in a student leadership program with my church focusing on events within our community. Most recently, I managed an event we hosted for the entire Treasure Valley for teenagers with special needs and participated in a food drive and other service-minded activities. I have also served in the children's ministry at our church.
I am actively assisting with the drills for the Sawtooth Catch ID 2025 Scout team and have done so for the past three years. I like to give back to upcoming athletes any chance I can.
