Dalton Powell is my name and baseball is my game! I am 5’11”/178 lbs, a 2022 grad who has been playing catcher for 15 yrs, RHP for 5 years and 3B when my knees need a break. I will be serving a religious mission for two years after graduation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Once I return I look forward to continuing my college and baseball career.
In the second grade, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. The more I studied and worked academically to train my brain, the more I needed baseball to be my outlet. The amount of time I would put in to achieve descent grades in the classroom, pushed me to perfect something that I love. Baseball soon became my lifeline.
Through the years I’ve worn many different uniforms. Those of the teams I was on; little league, travel ball, super league and high school but also those of leader, friend and teammate. When baseball season came to a close, you could always find me at the neighborhood sandlot with my buddies and anyone willing to pitch to me.
One of my favorite memories is when my brothers and I decided to spray paint a strike zone on the garage door, it annoyed my mother but most of the time she smiled hearing them complain about my curve ball. After all these years, my brothers still can’t hit it.
As you can see, baseball is my passion! I am a well rounded athlete who is always willing and eager to look for opportunities to enhance my abilities wherever I can. Even though I’m not always physically on the field my brain is always thinking about baseball. I have studied videos and trainings to enhance my skills. Along with private coaches pushing me to work out in the gym. Through all the work and effort put in, my biggest motivator is my family. Always encouraging and wanting me to try my hardest in all that I do.
I have a growth and coachable mindset. The first to arrive and the last to leave. Pushing myself to be the best I can be. I am ready to attend college to see how far I can succeed on and off the field and in all things life and in baseball.
