As a kid, I always enjoyed baseball; not because of the sport, but because I was having fun and running around without a single thought. Playing catch with my dad or sister wasn’t about throwing the ball, but messing around and spending time with them. As I got older, I got more into baseball, became a bigger fan of Javier Baez and The Chicago Cubs, and got better at playing the sport in general. It has also taught me many lessons-such as respecting peers, working hard in everything I do, humbling myself in success, and learning from mistakes in order to grow. It has also connected me to many people-such as coaches and friends I’m still close with and new connections as well. My love for the game motivates me to work hard and is the reason I strive to play in college and professionally.
When I step on the diamond, I always give 110 percent effort. I hustle towards the ball as quick as possible and then get it where it needs to be. In my at-bats, I battle until the last pitch. In the classroom, I work hard with a 3.1 GPA and when I get hit with a roadblock, I do my best to move past and get back to where I need to be. I also lead and encourage others to be successful as well. I hope to continue being who I am throughout college and life, but also work hard to improve and become better.
