Personal Statement for College Baseball Recruiters
I have been playing baseball since I was 6 years old. I have played other sports like basketball, football, soccer, and track, but none of them have driven me like baseball. I can remember how hard it was when I first started the game. As a 5th grader who received limited time on the mound and in the outfield. However, my passion for the game pushed me to work hard and improve my skills. During my 8th grade year, I was able to lead my team to a state championship title. It was the first time in my school’s history that they ever won state in baseball. It was an amazing season and it really proved to me that all my hard work is paying off. As I am getting ready to move on to High School, I am extremely excited to take that step to the next level. Also, I believe it is the perfect time to start planning for my career at the collegiate level.
I know I can be a great asset to any university and its baseball team. I have demonstrated strong academics by maintaining good grades on my report card while taking accelerated Math and Science classes during my time at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Regional Catholic Middle School. On top of being a 3-sport athlete, I was also a member of the Scholar Bowl team and played the trombone in band. As I move on to Goreville High School, I will continue to work hard so I can graduate at the top of my class. In addition to my academics, I am a right-handed pitcher with a high baseball IQ. I am also very coachable, a strong team leader, and a great teammate. On my club team, I also play both corners of the infield, some outfield, and bat 4 or 5 in the lineup. When I am not pitching, I usually backfill the teammate that is, so I have become very flexible.
I believe my college years will be extremely important in making me the man I want to be in the future. I want to attend a university that will continue to push me academically as well as athletically. At the same time, I want to find the best fit for my faith and family. Currently, I am unsure of my major, but I will be meeting with my High School counselor soon. On the field, I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college baseball career, I will strive to be an asset to the pitching rotation, infield, and batting line-up. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches, and the school I attend.
Sincerely,
Garrett Church
