Ryan Schissler '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ryan Schissler and I am a junior at Lincoln-Way Central in New Lenox, Illinois.  I am a 6’ 160 lb. right-handed pitcher who throws a three-pitch mix.  My fastball max was clocked at 82MPH, my changeup comes in at 73-74, and my best pitch is my curveball that has a 12/6 shape.

I have loved playing baseball since I started at 5 years old.  Some of my best memories growing up were playing catch with my dad.  It has always been a goal of mine to play college baseball, and now that I am in my junior year, I am making that goal a reality.

My parents challenged me at an early age and have always told me that if I want to maximize my potential, I need to play on the most competitive teams in the state and play the best competition.  My travel team is the Cangelosi Sparks Black out of Lockport, Illinois.  Our team is routinely rated one of the top teams in Illinois and a top 10 team in the Midwest.  Playing against and with exceptional players will only benefit me while playing in college.  I recently committed to being a pitcher only.  I recognize my greatest strength in baseball is as a pitcher.  Committing to only pitch will enable me to apply all my time, talent, energy, and focus on being the best pitcher I can be.

Outside of baseball, I perform speed and agility training and play football in the Fall.  I run a 6.76 60-yard dash and my vertical jump is 33.6 inches.  I get good grades in school.  My GPA is 3.73, and this semester, I am enrolled in one AP and one honors class.  I am undecided for my major, but I can see myself going into business or potentially physical therapy.

We don’t get what we are given, we get what we earn.  I am a hard worker who is very coachable and adaptable.  I plan to give my all, all the time, to reach my goal to not only play college baseball, but to have a successful college baseball career.  I am a team leader and set that example for the rest of my peers.  I’m used to pitching in pressure situations and I want to take my experience to the next level.
