As a freshman, being a part of the most successful varsity team my school has had in over 8 years was one of the biggest highlights in my hockey career. However only during my sophomore year, I felt my skills saw an improvement. Even though my team has not been as successful this year, I took it as an opportunity to reflect upon where I was as a player and where I want to be. I made sure, with the help of my trainer and my family, that I was prepared for the season by not only being in top physical condition, with daily workouts, but also mentally prepared to face the challenges this year has brought.
When I was little, my two older cousins and I would spend days together playing hockey. When the oldest of us, David, went on to play hockey for his high school team, my cousin Dominic and I continued to spend our time playing, but now also enjoying watching hockey. Eventually Dominic went on to not only play high school hockey, but spent time playing for a juniors team in Canada. This left me to forge my own path playing high school hockey. It has been the inspiration that I received from my cousins and family that has made me love this sport so much. It has been what has motivated me to continue to work hard and grow as a player.
