This past season as a junior at Southwestern High School, I had opportunities to challenge myself at the mound facing other talented individuals, many who had already committed to D1 colleges. There are two games that stand out. Early in the season we played Routte Catholic High School. Although they scored two runs and we didn’t take home the game win, it was a win for me, throwing only 75 pitches to 26 batters in 6 innings. The highlight of my season was an opportunity to pitch at Grizzly Stadium in Sauget, Illinois. The pitcher on the opposing team was a senior at Metro East Lutheran High School who had already committed to a D1 college as well. Staying focused paid off for me in the end with a shutout win. These experiences helped me to grow as a person and re-focus my own efforts on being a solid pitcher capable of playing at the college level.
I learned at a very young age what it meant to be a team player. I am confident in my ability to perform in a variety of positions as well as skillfully sit the bench until called upon. As a 2-sport athlete I stay active and enjoy being able to compete for the majority of the year. In the off months I utilize my time resting and physically strengthening my body to stay in shape for the upcoming seasons.
Although I haven’t settled on a single area of study, I enjoy study in the area of science.
I lead by example and my critical thinking keeps me a couple steps ahead. During live play, I have the ability to make split second, critical decisions that produce positive results and my team depends on me for this. I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
