Personal Statement

My name is Flynn Morrison and I am a Sophomore Catcher at Laney College, Oakland CA. I'm a well built athletic catcher (6'0" / 205lbs) that hit in the middle of the order at Laney College. I was nominated for the Sophomore California Community College showcase in January of 2020 and slashed .314/.412/.457 with 8 doubles, 17 RBI, 22 Hits in 20 games before COVID-19 shut down the season. I have also been nominated by the Coach at Laney College to be an All American for the 2021 season. I am a very dedicated and discipline athlete with the goal of performing at the highest level and am looking to take my skill set to a 4 year school in the fall of 2021. I am a leader on and off the field with the goal of getting the most out of my teammates and the program, I am motivated by winning and success.

I have currently completed my AA in Business Administration and had a GPA of 3.56 at Laney College. I am looking at majoring in Business Management, Economics or Finance. I understand the vitals of a quality education and view it as almost as important as playing baseball at the collegiate level.

I have also been recently selected to represent New Zealand at the upcoming World Baseball Classic in November 2021.

  • Latest Showcase Report 2018 West Uncommitted Showcase Jan 06, 2018 PG Grade: 7.5 Flynn Morrison is a 2018 C/3B with a 6-0 192 lb. frame from Burwood East, VIC who attends Caulfield Grammar. Medium frame with a strong build. Primary catcher with a slightly taller stance while setting up to receive. Some hands while receiving the baseball and gained ground to the bag while working out of crouched. Quick, clean exchange while working through transition and released from a compact arm slot. Throws produced acccurate, on line carry to the bag. Best workout pop time of 2.02. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Loose hands through the zone and created very good back spin and carry off the barrel. Ball jumped off the barrel with authority to the gap when on time and squared. Very good student as well.
