As a student-athlete, my instincts at the plate, on base, in the field and classroom makes me a game changer for any team. What I offer to a program is a player who has the drive, determination, intensity, hustle, and who understands sacrifice and hard work.
My love for the game of baseball developed over each stage of my life. My earliest memories were watching Ken Burns DVD documentary series about the history of American's national pastime. You could find me in front of the television with a bat in hand, swinging with whoever was featured in that episode. During the summer months of watching these documentaries, I got to watch and learn about my namesake, Hall of Famer, Tris Speaker, a cousin to my Dad's father. I guess you can say that baseball runs in my blood.
My freshman year of high school, I was the starting short-stop and lead-off hitter for our varsity that was made up of 11 seniors. I continued that role my sophomore year. In the two years of high school ball, I was named to the Honorable Mention All-City team my freshman year. My sophomore year, I was named to the Honorable Mention 5A State Team, 2nd team All-Conference, and 2nd Team All-City Team. Nonetheless, I had much anticipation for my junior year, but COVID-19 had other plans.
I have been an honor roll student and earned an academic letter for maintaining a grade point average of 3.50 and above. Currently, my weighted GPA is 3.92. I was nominated and inducted to the National High School Society of Scholars my junior year.
I know that I would be an important and productive addition to a college team. Each of my coaches from high school to travel team would easily communicate that I am a coachable player that shows respect to my coaches, team and most importantly the game. I am a hard worker, disciplined and an enthusiastic player who uses those traits to motivate and encourage my teammates and those around me.
