I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old. At the age of 9, I volunteered to try out as catcher for my All Star Team and found that I loved that position. Playing catcher allows me to stay focused in the game at all times and to be a leader from behind the plate. When I'm not behind the plate, I contribute in the Outfield or relief Pitching. I also possess the ability to motivate and pump my teammates up when we are down or keep the spirit alive when we are ahead.
I have been playing travel ball since I was 10 years old and have been fortunate to be a part of two different USSSA World Series Championship Teams, Southern Hurt at age 12 and Louisiana Falcons at age 14. I caught, played outfield, and pitched for both teams. I have been coached by different styles and learned different strategies for the sport. My parents have always supported me in my sporting endeavors. They are always willing to "coach" me on and off the field. My dad has coached me for several years as well as being a volunteer High School Football Coach for the past 7 years. As he coached, I was allowed to be ball boy for the high school team. I learned the coaching process from the sidelines as well as how to game plan from watching film at a young age. I realized then that I had a love for football as well.
I started playing football when I was 9 years old. During my Junior High Career, I was fortunate to play both defense and offense. I was awarded Defensive MVP my 7th grade year and Offensive MVP my 8th grade year. I am currently on the Freshman and JV team for Ouachita Parish High School where I have been able to play both ways as well. I have recently been called up to the Varsity Team where I have been awarded the opportunity to play on Special Teams and some Defense.
As I have been successful on the field my parents push me to be successful off the field as well. As a 2nd grader, I was admitted into the Gifted Program where I have been challenged in the classroom. I was inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society as a 5th grader and into the National Junior Honor Society as a 7th grader. I am enrolled in Gifted/AP classes at this time as well. I took the ACT as a 7th grader and scored a 19 and recently I have taken it again and am waiting for the test scores.
I feel it is important to be successful first off the field then second on the field. I have been blessed in both areas so far and I am hoping to continue my success at the next level.
