I have been playing and learning about baseball, since I was about two or three years old. I would make my way into my brother’s practices and the coaches would let me do drills and work on skills with the team. I love everything about baseball. I study the history of baseball and follow the careers of hall of famers and I even recognize the great players that may not have won a ring or been inducted. I literally dream about baseball. Baseball keeps me in the zone, it is where I am my best me.
I work hard and do what needs to be done to advance my game. I am a solid, dependable player. I am a player, that keeps a team going, if we need to rally. When I play, the crowd sits on the edge of their seats, expecting that I am going to make something happen. I am friendly, mild-tempered, and let go of disappointments easily from play to play. I put my knowledge to work on the field.
I have been a starter on all of my teams. My freshmen year, I pitched a shutout game against C. E. Byrd High School, a long-standing rival. In the summer of 2018, I played in the Texas League and we won World Series runner-up. This season, my first full year of playing varsity, I was named All-District-2nd team. I devote every off season to baseball and I am often called to pitch against our fiercest competitors. As lead-off, I have patience at the plate. I see pitches and share information with the team to help us win. I lead my team by encouraging self-discipline and skill-building. I can encourage my team to focus and rally us to a win. I have a positive attitude and high expectations for myself and my team.
I would like to attend a school that has a high graduation rate and a high rate of placement for students after graduation. My family intends to contribute to my cost of attendance based on the results of my FAFSA and any other aid that I may be awarded. I would love to be a part of the world of sports forever, and so, I would like to study Broadcast Journalism. Later in my career, I would like to analyze games and players, report on sports, or complete commentaries regarding baseball.
I want to play baseball at the highest level possible. I believe I will be an asset to any school or coach that chooses me, at any level and I am open to attending the school that is the best fit for me, regardless of location. My ultimate goal is to win a national championship in college and play in the MLB.
