2021 Spotlight Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Will Oates. I am currently a Junior in the class of 2024 at St. Maria Goretti located in Hagerstown, Maryland. I play on the Stinger United National team out of Emmitsburg, Maryland. My dream of playing at the college level started when I was 7 years old, and since then, I’ve wanted to make it a reality.
One thing that has really inspired me to have a love for the game of baseball is my mother. Back in 2014, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Watching her go through that was very painful at times. Eventually in 2015, the cancer took over her. She passed away January 7th, 2015. The one, most import thing I took away from watching her go through this, she never gave up. That has since then inspired me through anything I do to be like her.
