Baseball has made a major impact upon my life. Throughout the years, my experiences in the game have allowed me to develop outstanding qualities as a person and athlete that would make me a strong asset for your program. The hard work required to be successful on the field and off have helped me develop the commitment and self-discipline to work in practice and independently to improve my skills, my strength and conditioning, my mental toughness, and keep up with my studies. I have also been able to develop strong character, leadership skills and coach-ability to become a major contributor to a competitive and winning environment on the field and in the dugout. All of this has given me opportunities to play at a highly competitive level in national and regional events with the 5 Star National organization.
I have been playing baseball as long as I can remember. I currently play middle infield and outfield and I am working on pitching. I have been lucky enough to have my dad, a former college baseball player, coach me from an early age. While he is no longer in the dugout with me, he was able to teach me the value of teamwork , to be selfless, to be a relentless competitor, and to lead by example, very early in my career.
In addition to continuing to develop as an athlete on the baseball field I am a solid student at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. I am currently taking a full Honors course load. It is challenging, but the skills that I have learned in baseball have served me well in the classroom. I have also been active in my community outside of school . I have been fortunate to be able to volunteer as a camp counselor, to teach intellectually disabled kids to ride bikes, and to put together care packages for service men and women deployed overseas. This volunteer work taught me about sacrifice and gave me perspective on my own life, and has helped me to realize that playing baseball is a privilege I am lucky to have and something I shouldn't take for granted.
I am looking forward to attending a college or university that will allow me to continue to grow as an athlete, student, and person and provide a well-rounded college experience. I am looking forward to playing baseball in college and to be able to contribute to a team and leave a positive mark wherever I play. I also plan on trying to stay in the game as a coach and instructor so I can give to others what the game has given me.
