Jack Batten '19 Recruiting Profile

I know behind every talented ball player there is another dedicated athlete in line waiting to fill that spot on your roster. So what makes me special, someone you would want on your team, well let me tell you a little about myself. You can see in my profile, I am a big kid, been this way since the day I was born. This wasn’t always a benefit. When I was 3 people expected me to behave like I was 5 and when I was 5 they expected 8. I believe this influenced the person and ultimately the athlete I am today because I was always fighting to prove I could fill big shoes. This drove me to work harder, to never be satisfied with the results, always looking for improvement in any of the sports that I played to include, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer and Lacrosse. I am a well-rounded natural athlete and excelled in each of these sports, but Baseball and Pitching has always been my passion. What makes me valuable is my ability to play any position. I currently move between 3^rd, SS, SB and now starting to pitch again as a Sophomore and previously played 1B and catcher as well. Where ever I am needed, my coaches know I am the kid they can count on to make a difference and as long as I am in the game, contributing positively to my team I am happy.

In addition to playing sports at the collegiate level, I understand the bigger picture, that college is a time to grow and explore, to determine what path you hope to take in life after sports. I understand this requires a strong academic foundation and drive to perform in the classroom as well. I look forward to this opportunity and feel strongly I have the character and work ethic it takes to excel at the college level.
