Personal Statement

Hello my name is Connor Stone I'm a Junior(2022) Catcher at Scituate High School.  I have been playing baseball since I was very young and I have never lost interest in the game. One of my main goals is to play baseball beyond the high school level. To add to that, academics are very important to me and a good education is always important to me. My father got me into catching when I was 8 and I have loved every moment of being behind the plate. I enjoy being able to control the game and always be in the play. Calling the game is one of my main strengths behind the plate. I will never put another teammate down for making a mistake. I am always a team player and will do what ever is best for my team. I am also competitive and will do whatever I am told by a coach to do. I hate losing and will do whatever it takes to win. Putting in the hard-work is always a must for myself. No matter the temperature, I will always be out on the field working on things. Whether it is throwing long toss with my teammates or taking BP with my coach in December. I am determined to always put in the hard work.  If I get the chance to play college ball, I will make sure I carry all of these characteristics with me, and spread positivity and motivation to others. I will never give up on any team, and am willing to put in a lot of hard work for my school and team.

  • Stone is a 6-foot-2, 180 pound right-handed hitting catching prospect. He hits out of a wide, squatty stance. The hands are set close to his face prior to the pitch being delivered. His load is short before whipping the bat-head through the hitting zone on a direct, flat path. He showed pop during his round to the pull side and max exit velocity of 87 MPH. Defensively, Stone had a pop time range of 2.13-2.25 seconds and a velocity of 74 MPH behind the plate. His initial set up is square with the glove in the center of the chest. As he transitions to throw, his footwork is good. He gets his hip and shoulders in line with second base. The ball exchange is clean, allowing the arm to work freely. He finishes over the front side in line with second base.

  • Connor is a tall C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Connor shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, consistently keeping them on-line to the 2B bag. Sitting in a more square stance can help Connor improve his overall catching ability. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and gets back into his load well. He leads with his lower half and stays direct through the ball, producing solid gap to gap pop. Overall, Connor is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.
