Respect, work ethic, and leadership. These are the three traits that describe me as a student athlete. At the age of 15 I was fortunate enough to be able to go on a weeklong mission trip to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania with my Youth Group. We worked in the inner city on family’s houses to improve them to make them feel more comfortable and proud of their homes. This experience has taught me that serving and respecting others truly can change them and you forever. That experience has motivated me to serve others and exemplify my leadership qualities on and off the field. I was elected Secretary of my school’s Student Volunteer Board and was selected to be a member of The National Honor Society; these two organizations are built on service, character, and leadership.
My leadership, work ethic, and respect are only represented further on the baseball field. I was voted a captain by my fellow teammates for my junior season due to the leadership qualities shown as a sophomore player on varsity. For my personal work ethic I am waking up two to four days a week, depending on the time of the year, at five in the morning to hit baseballs at my school or for weightlifting. Immediately following the school day, I either work out 5 days a week for an hour and then hit baseballs again in my garage or go to practice. Frequently, I go to the strike zone facility and throw with my dad to strengthen my arm or perfect my swing. To conclude my day I do homework or study. Each and every day I dedicate myself to my studies to be the best student possible, as well as being the best baseball player.
Overall I am very blessed to have the support system of my family and coaches and the special privilege to play the game of baseball.
