My name is Jameson Goorman. I am currently a Junior at Western Michigan Christian High School.
Ever since I can remember I have been playing baseball. All of my free time in my summers since I was a little kid was consumed mostly by playing in the backyard and at local fields. I have always loved baseball more than any other sport. I have poured hundreds of hours into being the best I possibly can be.
I try to lead by example.
I grew up always playing catcher because I wanted to be in the middle of everything and loved framing pitches and throwing out runners. Then I hit high school and rapidly grew from 5’8 to 6’3 and became the fastest player on my high school team. So my coach moved me to center field, which is now my primary position.
My Grandpa is a Hall of Fame basketball coach and has an amazing competitive drive. He hates to lose and has instilled in me that same drive. I love to compete and hate to lose at anything. Every opportunity I get, no matter which sport, I want the chance to perform for my team. Also, I always choose #6 because Al Kaline is my Grandpa's favorite player.
I play three varsity sports: baseball, basketball and soccer. My mom is in healthcare and has always felt very strongly that playing multiple sports is important to my overall body health and athleticism. I don’t know about that, but I know I have spent a lot of time running, working out and have learned a lot about competing in multiple sports.
In school I work hard and get mostly A’s and B’s. I have always loved spending time with my family, traveling, hiking and playing sports with them and doing other fun activities. My entire family values faith, education, and hard work. Those are my expectations so I do my best to meet them.
Attending the high school where my grandpa won five basketball state championships and a baseball runner-up put a bit of pressure on me to measure up. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but have done my best. My family is always proud of me, no matter how things go and for that I am thankful.
Faith, leadership, hard work, family, friends and a high level of compete are what set me apart.
