My name is Samuel DeVries, I have loved baseball for as long as I can remember. I have played little league, travel and High School ball and feel like I could play it everyday of my life. I am a student at Tri Unity Crhistian and love drawing, cars, and helping those around me and hope to use my love of baseball and my passions to go to college for a degree in transportation technology, engineering, or education. I love being part of team and enjoy the friendships that I have made through sports. I have not only played baseball but have also enjoyed playing basketball and this year even played soccer for the first time in 10 years. I loved it. I wasn't the best but I learned so much and I learned how to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something I wasn't great at. I think my biggest strength would be that I have compassion for others. I typically can get along with everyone but have found in my years at school that I have been a source of support and even a friend to those that need it most. In sports, I am usually the guy players come and ask for help from because I am sympathetic and love to teach and help others. I am not always the loudest, or the one who has to be in control, but I do find that my role on the team has been that person who cheers on others when they need it, who helps them when they are struggling, or who teammates can count on to make them laugh when they need it most. This year, I am playing for the Grand Rapids Flames 18U Jacobson team as well as the 17U Herrera team. Most years I have played for more than 1 team and really find that I love being pushed on the older teams as well as being a role model on the teams within my age group.
