Jack McNellis: For the love of the game
Baseball Player and Tuition Exchange Candidate
My name is Jack McNellis and I am a baseball player. It may sound trite, but that is how I’ve seen myself since picking up a bat at the age of 3. I love the game. I love the history and stats. I love the training. I love the smell of grass and the sound of the bat. I love the chatter and comradery. I love baseball. When I’m asked what position I play, I respond with “I’m a baseball player”. I’ll play wherever and whenever I’m needed. I’ve been called the best defensive player high level coaches have seen at multiple positions. I pride myself on learning the finer points of hitting (Ted Williams-Rotational, Charlie Lau-Linear, and Tony Gwynn- combo). I’ve spent countless hours every day fine tuning those skills and always trying to get better.
I am the baseball player you need for character and team building. I love competition. I will go the opposite way to get a runner into scoring position without hesitation. I help and train younger players of all skill levels in improving their game. I set the example for work ethic among my peers. I have experience in setting new standards for new teams at the highest levels. My best friends in life have been teammates at one time or another. I challenge all of them to match my work ethic and in turn it makes us all better.
I want to pursue an education and career which fosters my love for athletics and the athletes. Pursuing an advanced education in sports psychology or management is something within my natural progression. I work hard in the classroom to meet the expectations of my teachers. I am easy to teach and coach. My parents have always done everything they could to support me on and off the field. My father is a staff member at a Tuition Exchange participating college (Westminster College Fulton, MO) which provides several avenues to advance my education.
I hope this statement gives you a glimpse of my character, what I can offer, and what my goals are for the future. Something this letter cannot do is adequately explain my passion and love for this game. I am a baseball player. My name is Jack McNellis.
