Greetings!
My name is Beau-Hunter Warren. I am 18 years old and am from Portageville, Missouri. I am writing to you because of my interest in playing college baseball. I recently completed a week at Missouri Boys State at Lindenwood University. It was a wonderful experience in leadership training.
Currently our team just won the Class 3 District 1 Championship, Sectionals, Quarterfinals, and punched our ticket to the Final Four, winning 3rd Place at State. My teammates and I were extremely focused on the task at hand and wanted to return to the state playoffs again after an upset in 2022 in the State Championship game vs. Russellville. I have been extremely focused and determined to help my teammates return. Our team finished this regular and post season 35-3, Regular Season Conference Champs and Conference Tournament Champs, District Champs, Sectional Champs, and Quarterfinal Champs. We were ranked #1 in Missouri Class 3 State Rankings going into the Final Four Playoffs.
Additionally, my travel ball team, the Southeast Tropics of Chaffee, Missouri, competed in the Senior Babe Ruth World Series held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, during August this year. We competed against teams from all across the United States, Australia, China, and Taiwan. We played the Championship game against the Mississippi RawDawgs and WON!! It was an amazing experience and it was such a privilege to be a part of such a high point for our area.
With this said, I am writing to you with the desire to pursue a collegiate baseball career. I am the starting second baseman on my high school team, received Academic All-State honors (GPA of 4.125) for the second year, and All-Conference, and I consider myself an asset to any team. I realize I am from a very small town in Missouri, but I have a dream and that dream is to play for you! I realize you are very busy and your time is precious, but I will do what it takes to reach my goal!
Just to tell you a little bit about myself; I am a second baseman, pitcher, third baseman, shortstop, and any position in the outfield. I can play in any position you put me in. I have grown up playing ball and absolutely LOVE it! I have played for various travel ball teams such as the SEMO War Eagles (for 6 years) and the Misfits (for 1 year), Missouri Bulls 16uAAA & 17u AAA, and the 19U Southeast Tropics- Senior Babe Ruth. As a SEMO War Eagles, we won many USSSA tournaments in Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky, as well as, the State Tournament in Missouri, along with the 12U AA World Series. I was the number 1 pitcher for our team with a ERA of around 1.4. I also played shortstop, while not pitching, with few errors. After winning the World Series, I was named the MVP of the tournament after pitching a near no-hitter, allowing one hit.
I have played for our school’s Junior High Baseball Program, under Coach Steve Rogers. I was a top pitcher in our rotation and short stop. Our team won our Bootheel Conference Tournament in 2019. Unfortunately, Covid-19 hit and we were unable to have our season last year, but I continued to work and stay sharp.
I have trained at Balls and Strikes in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with Coach Todd Pennington and his excellent staff for the past nearly 12 years. I have worked with Coach Todd on my pitching in particular. Right now, I have a top fastball of 85, a change up of 65, and an effective curveball. I will be playing for the 19u Southeast Tropics, out of Chaffee, Missouri, this summer season.
As a student, I am focused on excellence in the classroom, as well as, on the field. I have over a 4.0 GPA, am number 3 in my class, and plan to pursue a career in pharmacy or in the medical field. I am excellent at budgeting my time for homework, projects, and studying independently. I have also competed in USA swimming for 8 years and won many awards for myself and my team. I know how many hours along with both mental and physical toughness are needed for training and success, especially during the offseason…there is no OFF season.
I am also a wide receiver for our school’s high school football team. (If it’s thrown in my direction…I WILL make a play, as in baseball, as well.). I received Academic All-State honors for the last 3 years, All-Conference Wide Receiver and Defensive Back the last 3 years, All-District Defensive Back the last 3 years, and All-Region for the third year, and 1st Team All-State wide receiver. I served as a mentor and on our football leadership council and helped our team obtain a District Championship (first time in 20 years!). I believe in working hard, training harder, and mental toughness, and sacrifice are needed in order to succeed, but above all, faith in myself, my team, my coaches, and God. I will do what it takes in order for our team and it’s mission to succeed in accomplishing it’s goals. I also believe in giving back to the community and serving others above myself. I am actively involved in various clubs, serving as Student Body President for my senior year, being a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, participating in community service projects such as our local food service in town, stuff the bus, participating in VBS, tutoring, and reading/mentoring at our local elementary school.
My dream has always been to play for a university baseball team. I dreamed of playing on a college field. It’s the Field of Dreams to me!
I hope you are able to see me play one day. Various accomplishments are available on the web by searching the Semoball-SEMO War Eagles, Southeast Tropics, and Portageville Baseball, through the Sikeston Standard Democrat and SEMOball. I am dedicated to my goal.
Thank you so much for taking your time to read this and I look forward to hearing back from you in the near future. Please check out my profile on NCSA. Please feel free to contact my head baseball coach, Tyler Trover at [email protected] or cell 573-281-0040. My travel ball coach for the Southeast Tropics is: Dustin Schwartz. His number is: 573-318-1184.
Sincerely,
Beau-Hunter Warren
