INTRODUCTION/STATS:
My name is Anthony Kopecky, a 6’1” foot, 160 pound right-handed pitcher/outfielder, born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am currently a senior at Sports Leadership and Management Academy of Nevada, also known as SLAM. I am a great contribution to my team at SLAM by not only being one of the four team captains, but by always being the last one off the field, cleaning the dugout, stowing away gear, and getting the most I can out of every practice.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Throughout high-school, I have earned an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, Scholar Athlete Awards both my freshman, Sophomore, and Junior year, National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists Award of Excellence, MVP for baseball for my 2017-2018 season, and Pitcher of the Year for my 2018-2019 season. I plan on working my hardest in the field and in the classroom to achieve another Scholar Athlete Award and more for this upcoming baseball season.
LOVE AND PASSION:
My parents introduced me to baseball around the age of 6, and I can’t thank them enough for it. Ever since that day, I have had a great and growing love and passion for the game. Every day I’m off the field, I can’t wait to get right back on. I consider the baseball field my home away from home. It is such a huge part of my life—this sport has truly made me into the person I am today.
One significant reason for my continuous passion for the game is the story behind my Uncle, Sandy Spadafore. He was the LeMoyne Dolphins’ ace southpaw pitcher in Syracuse, New York, in 1975. He had a great love and passion for the game and had the dream of playing in the MLB just as I do. After graduation, he was scouted by the Milwaukee Brewers and was confident he would get signed after they told him to come back the next day, but the pitcher in front of him was signed instead. So, he did the next best thing and played for an Italian Major League team in Nettuno where he “proceeded to mesmerize the opponent”-LeMoyne Dolphins Hall of Fame. Sadly, Sandy died of a brain tumor in (1997), before I was ever able to meet him. He was later inducted into the LeMoyne College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.
COLLEGE PREFERENCE:
It is my dream to play collegiate baseball as my uncle did and continue his dream by later playing professionally. Concerning colleges, I would prefer going to a school between California and Texas in the Southwest. As for specific states, I would choose Oklahoma or Nevada, but I am still open to many other locations and types of schools. My desired major is along the lines of Sports Medicine, Sports Fitness, and Physical Therapy. I would like to play as a freshman, at a highly competitive level, all while making an impact on the team and getting a good education.
